These cultural treasures in various Government Museums of Gujarat State provide nonformal education to students and visitors. It also provides a detail scenario of the culture history and acts as a perennial source to delight the mental stimulation to fulfill the curiosity of the human mind. There are fourteen Government Museums in Gujarat state located at various important historical cities, tribal areas and tourist places.
People all over the world have taken pains to preserve the reminiscences of the bygone era by constructing museums . Gujarat too has its Golden past preserved in such museums. These museums scattered throughout the state, showcase carious facets of the rich heritage of Gujarat, A few noteworthy are mentioned here.

Calico Textile Museum-Ahmedabad |

Established I 1949, it is regarded as one of the finest textile museums in the world. The museums in the world. The museums displays a magnificent collection of the finest fabrics spun, woven printed and painted in different parts of India, dating back ti the 17th century. It also houses a collection of marble, sandstone and bronze icons, busts and excellent refernce library on textiles.

Sabarmati Ashram-Ahmedabad |

Founded as Satyagraha Harijan Ashram by the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi in 1917, 'Hridaya Kunj', the simple cottage where he lived, now preserved as a small-and-Light show offer in-depth insight into the life and work of the Mahatma.

A circular lake constructed by Sultan Qutub-ud-din in 1451. it has an island garden at the centre with a summer palace, known as Nagina wadi. The lake is a popular recreation cnetre 'Bal Vatika' and aquwarium , a boat club, a natural history museum and a zoo surround it.

A fallery housing the combined efforts of artist M.F. Hussein and architect B.V. Doshi where art and architecture complement each other and fuse to become a unique experience. Located on the campus of the Centre for Environment Planning and Technology, the Gufa as its is popularly called, is a configuration of cave-like structures buried under the ground.

The Museum and Picture Gallery, Baroda is the largest Museum of the Gujarat state. The It was built by late Maharaja Sir Sayajirao II Gaekwad in the year 1887 A.D.The museum houses an impressive collection of art, archaeology, natural history, geology and ethnology. The adjoining art gallery has a great collection of old European masters-Veronese, Glordano, Zubaran, some Flemish and Dutch school paintings, tuner and Constable, Mughal miniatures and valuable palm leaf manuscripts of Buddhist and Jain origins.

Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum-Vadodara |

This is the royal collection of art treasures of old masters like Raphael, Titian and Murillo as well as modern Western and Indian paintings. Greco-Roman exhibits, Chinese and Japanese art and a large collection of contemporary Indian art.

Established in 1877 as the Fergusson Museum, it is the oldest museum of Gujarat. The exhibits on display are gold and silver ornaments, Kshatrapa inscriptions, are gold and silver ornaments, Kshatrapa inscriptions, textiles, weapons, archaeological finds, stuffed animals and musical instruments. It is equipped with a picture gallery and sections for anthropology and shipping.
